The physics behind the feel.
Every Hydrate system runs water through a high-velocity vortex and a mineral contact chamber before it reaches your tap. Here's what that actually does, what's proven engineering, what's still frontier research, and where we draw the line between the two.
Frontier research, not settled science
For decades, water was taught as existing in three phases: solid, liquid and vapor. Research associated with Dr. Gerald Pollack at the University of Washington, presented at the international Physics, Chemistry and Biology of Water conference (waterconf.org), explores a fourth state, a more ordered arrangement that forms near certain surfaces. We refer to this idea as Wetter Water throughout this page, our own term for the general concept, not the formal name used in the research itself.
We want to be direct about where this stands: this is frontier biophysics research and ongoing exploration, not a settled or universally accepted finding. Mainstream physical chemistry has not adopted it as established fact, and reasonable scientists disagree about it. We think it's genuinely interesting, and it's part of why we built what we built, but we're not going to present it to you as proven law. What we can stand behind is the engineering below, and what you can taste and feel for yourself.
Engineered Natural Flow Chamber
Inside the unit, water passes through a high-velocity vortex surrounding a proprietary internal core. This core features a blend of natural minerals, crystals and elemental surfaces, engineered to replicate the rich multi-mineral contact water experiences when flowing over natural mountain streambeds.
What you can actually notice
Rather than promising specific health outcomes, we'll tell you what the physical mechanics change: surface tension. Standard tap water has relatively high surface tension. Passing it through the vortex and mineral chamber lowers that surface tension, which is a real, measurable physical property, not a wellness claim.
- Softer mouthfeel. Lower surface tension changes how water sits on the tongue, many people describe it as smoother or "wetter."
- Cleaner taste. Mineral contact and aeration affect taste directly, independent of anything unproven.
- Easier to drink more of. A number of our customers tell us it goes down easier, which in turn makes it simpler to stay on top of daily hydration, a personal habit, not a medical outcome we're claiming to deliver.
Test the difference yourself
You don't need a lab to observe the physical change. A few simple things to try at home:
- The surface tension drop test. Place a drop of standard tap water and a drop of water from your Hydrate system side by side on a clean glass or wax paper surface. Compare how each one beads or spreads.
- The taste test. Serve both side by side at room temperature and compare mouthfeel and taste directly.
- The ice test. Freeze a small, equal sample of each under identical conditions and compare the clarity and structure of the ice.
These are simple observational comparisons, not scientific proof of any health benefit. They're a way to notice the physical difference for yourself, nothing more.
The hydration experience: what our community shares
While every body and every household is different, here's the kind of feedback we hear most from customers who've switched:
- Softer mouthfeel. A smoother, less "heavy" texture compared to standard tap or filtered water.
- A cleaner taste preference. In side-by-side comparisons, most people tell us they prefer it to untreated municipal water.
- Easier daily habits. Water that's simple to drink tends to get consumed more consistently throughout the day.
These reflect individual customer experiences shared voluntarily, not a formal clinical study, and results and preferences vary. As with any testimonial-style claim, we'll keep this section updated with real, verifiable feedback as our customer base grows.
The bigger picture
Beyond what happens at your tap, there's a real environmental argument for structuring water at home instead of buying it bottled. An estimated 48 to 55 million tons of packaged bottled water move across state lines by freight truck every year in the US, roughly 6,500 to 7,500 truckloads a day (see the Invisible Toll section on our homepage for the full figure and how we sourced it). Treating the water you already have access to, at home, on the farm or in your business, is one direct way to cut plastic waste and freight emissions out of your own household's footprint.
